Les Gets has twice been rated as the best resort in the world for a family ski holiday, we have been skiing there many times, also in other areas, there are many factors which make les Gets special. These include: Good Nurserey Slopes – There are excellent Nurserey slopes and children’s skiing area, this is separate from the main slopes and is designed specifically for children. Good Red and Blacks – There are some really good red and black runs – so those who are more experienced can have a great week. Our favourites are Tulip – which is fairly straight and fast and has a cafe half way down and Bel Mouie – which starts with a beautiful run through trees, and later on opens up to a very wide piste which is great for fast carving. A ‘Bowl’ – the area between Le Ranfolly (from which there are wonderful views ofMont Blanc) and La Rosta is a brilliant area where reds, blacks and blues all meet at the bottom. We found that our group of mixed abilities can take different runs and all meet up at the same point. Good Ski Schools – there are some excellent English ski Schools, there are also many French ski schools where good English is spoken. There are good child care facilities, and childrens ski schools – there a couple of very good creches for the very young, then there are creche/snow play/ski schools for the 3 to 4 year olds – where they can spend part of the day planning, part learning to ski and then for 5 year old upwards, there are some excellent ski schools. Traditional Village – Les Gets is a beautiful village, dating back to the 11th Century, it has an old church and people live and work in Les Gets year round. It has a real soul and is very different to the new resorts – which are usually deserted in the summer. Our favourite runs are Tulipe and La Belle Mouie. Tulipe is a fast wide red with a cafe half way down and La Belle Mouille starts with a beautiful windy run through trees, then after a steep part, there is a very wide open space – great for carving.
